Ginger Snap Scraps' Memorial Day Blog Hop: Day Two!

Welcome to day two of Ginger Snap Scraps' Memorial Day blog hop!! Today is the same theme: red, white, and blue, but everyone has a new project to show you! Be sure to stop by the Ginger Snap Scraps'blog to see all the amazing work the design team has made!

If you're hopping along, you should have arrived here from the blog of the wonderful and talented Connie!

For my project today I played a little with altered art. I took gold acrylic paint and my fingers to paint the background. I wanted to use my fingers to get some texture into the paint. I stamped out the newsprint buildings and painted them with distress ink pads and a water brush. Then mounted them on X-Press Blending white cardstock. I then mounted them in layers and different dimensions with foam adhesives onto the cardstock I had painted. Then I lightly misted the buildings and background with Glimmer Mist and smudged the mist that landed on the gold with a paper towel into the grooves. While the mist was drying I painted the Studio Calico wood stars with white acrylic paint and red & blue Copics. I adhered the stars down with glossy accents to make sure they were securely in place. For the final touch I stamped a flag with a Tim Holtz stamp and distressed it lightly with Vintage Photo distress ink. I found a rouge star that I must have overlooked and decided to add it to the flag for a final touch.
