Inspired Stamps: Christmas Ornaments

Good Tuesday, bloggers! This week the Inspired Stamps design team will be featuring ornaments. I made this one by cutting a circle tag on my Silhouette. Then I used burlap twine to make a bow, while pretty, it is also functional: a metal ornament hanger can latch onto the twine in the back to hang on the tree. I used one of my favorite (have you noticed yet? hehe) holiday stamp sets, Christmas Poinsettia. I copic colored the poinsettia and then fussy cut a bunch of layers of patterned paper to layer it on top of. Finished it off with a Merry Christmas banner and two rhinestones.

Vintage Father's Day

Now that Mother's Day has passed, us card makers move on to Father's Day cards. When making masculine cards, it's no secret that I love to do vintage. For my card I made the base out of Kraft and then embossed a Tim Holtz embossing folder on cream. With a Friskar's punch I punched the top of it to make it look like it came out of a note pad. Taking my foam tool I ran Vintage Photo Distress Ink over the raised parts of the embossing and around the edges. With the Silhouette I cut a tag and a typewriter. For the tag I stamped Hero Arts News Print background stamp in Hero Arts' Wet Cement ink and distressed the edges with the same ink. Then I placed the paper grommet directly into the Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distress Ink pad and pressed it with the foam tool. I adhered the tag slightly askew onto the embossed note paper. For the typewriter I colored all the pieces with C family Copics, mainly C-1 through C-9. I wanted to make it look as distressed as possible and I really like how the blending looks almost worn. I then took the keys and wrote, "Thank You" on the ones in the center with a black pen. With the die cut there was also a piece of paper to customize that fits perfectly into the typewriter. For this I used Smitty's ABCs from Lawn Fawn and just stamped out, "Dad,". For the last touch I added a paper clip to the side of the tag.

This will be the card I give to my dad. My dad is an immigrant blue collar worker who never wore a tie to work. He also isn't "Mister Fix it". I feel like the majority of the cards out there aren't for most dads. They try to fit all our fathers into two categories. So I was pretty pleased I could make a nice card that made it easy to let him know I was thankful for him. I hope this will give some inspiration for those of you in the same boat as me. :) However, next week I'll be showing the card I made for my father in law who fits the tie and briefcase bill!

Sweet Stamping Treats, Spotlight on Me!

Well, to be fair they are going to spotlight all the design team members, but today is all about me! lol I used Sweet Stamping Treat's Roo stamp, isn't he cute? I just had to make a cliche sentiment to go with him, because obviously all Kangaroos say g'day mate! :) I cut a shape card on my Silhouette in Kraft and then cut a smaller size of the same shape in white. I printed the SST digi and Copic colored him in and paper pieced him to the card that I had drawn grass on. Then I cut a bunch of different strips of paper and went to town drawing lines and then cutting the edges haphazardly to resemble grass. Layered those strips of grass just under the Roo's feet. Then I distressed around the Roo with Tumbled Glass Distress ink. Finished it off with the sentiment on some Lawn Fawn Bright Side paper and added two tiny green gems. Here's my project for the hop ...I cut the rainbow and the yellow brick road with my Cameo from the Silhouette store and colored them in with Copics. The adorable stamps are from Karber which I also Copic colored.

Sweet Stamping Treats

For this week's card for the design team I chose to use the Ladybug with Flower's digi. I used the print and cut feature on my Silhouette to put the digi in the die cut. I Copic colored the digi and distress stained the background with a paint brush. Once it dried I adhered it to Lawn Fawn Bright Side paper and tied Divine Twine into a bow at the bottom and adhered it to a Kraft card base. I thought it needed an extra zhush, so I added some Doodlebug gems to the centers of the flowers. :)

Made Especially For You Challenge: Use Only 3 Papers!

This week the challenge was to make a card with three papers, no more, no less. I used the card's cream base, Kraft, and that itty bitty piece of red under the heart. I stamped Hero Art's new Newspaper Background woodblock stamp in Hero Art's Shadow ink in Wet Cement for the background on the card base. Then I took some yellow arrow washi tape and adhered it to the edge of the card base. I die cut an Amy Tangerine file card in Kraft on my Silhouette and edged it lightly with Tim Holtz's Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I stamped a Thinking of You sentiment from Hero Art's new stamp set for Operation Write home and an Xoxox stamp from Lawn Fawn. Punched out a small heart in red and adhered it to the back of the file card. Lastly I adhered the file card to the card base and attached a tiny paper clip from Tim Holtz.
