Lawn Fawn: Make It Shine, again!

I thought since I still had some time left, I'd have one more go at the current Lawnscaping challenge. For the main shine of the card I embossed recycled plastic packaging (this one was from some Tim Holtz faucets) in my Cuttlebug with a snowflake embossing folder. Then I made a scene for the penguins by free hand cutting some snow hills and lining the edges with stickles. At the top I tied some twine and added a gem in the center of the bow, and the sentiment flag is also lined in stickles. I apologize for the picture being rather dark, I had to or else the embossing washed out.

For my card I chose to do a shaped window shaker card for the winter animals to sit in using a Nestabilities die set. It's super easy to make and has a great "wow factor" for the recipient.  There's heaps of videos to watch on YouTube if you'd like to give this technique a whirl.  The only items I left out of my supply list was some recycled foam I had from some packaging, and some clear plastic packaging from a SD card I purchased earlier.  It is imperative to have the sheet of foam because you'll need to be able to cut a hole through it with the Nestabilities die in order to have a raised area for the shaker's contents.  Equally important, you'll also need the clear plastic sheet to enclose the shaker's contents.

Season's Greetings

For this card I wanted to play in two different challenges and still keep it a Gaby original. :) I stamped the snow flakes in white distress stain, which I highly recommend! A much easier clean up than most white inks or paints. Then for the blue I used some Echo Park dots paper and colored the scarf on the adorable raccoon with different Copic blue shades. To keep is CAS I left everything else open and added a banner with a sentiment from Lawn Fawn with a little blue gem ...for just a touch more blue!

T is for Tim Holtz

The second part of the "T is for" challenge at Two Peas includes Tim Holtz. I first embossed some snowflakes on the Tim Holtz blue paper in silver, gold, and blue embossing powders.

I made the snowman from Tim Holtz's Bigz die out of grunge board and grunge paper. I painted his body white with the snow cap paint dauber, his top hat black with the black paint dauber, and his nose orange with the orange paint dauber. Then I sanded the hat a smidge and added Vintage Photo distress ink to some of the bits I sanded off. For the charcoal eye I took one of Tim's long brads and held it with a tweezer, dipped it in Versamark, then sprinkled with black embossing powder and heat embossed it. Please make sure you use tweezers for this step, the brad gets extremely hot! I bore a hole through where I wanted the eye with Tim'z poker tool and placed the brad. I glued all the bits together with glossy accents and adhered it to my page. Lastly I ran a sheet of plastic through Tim's snow embossing folder and set it over the snowman with Tim's brads and washers.

I painted the die cut snowflakes with paint daubers and let them dry. Then I went over the edges with different blue distress inks. Adhered them with glassy accents to the page. All the white snowflakes are Jolee's stickers. I edged the adage ticket with Vintage Photo and stuck it down with Tim's Charm Clips. This was a very simple page, well except for the snowman. I actually didn't want to make it too complicated so that the snowman could shine a bit more.
