Good Thursday, bloggers! This week the Inspired Stamps design team was asked to make a project of their choice from any
Inspired Stamps' stamp sets. I chose to make votive covers with the
Butterflies and Blooms set and the
Home set. I embossed both stamps on Velum with black embossing powder and a heat gun. Velum will not melt when heated, though it can warp ever so slightly, but not too much at all. I thought it would be the perfect medium to use for decorative votive cups. Underneath are just plain boring glass votive holders, but I was able to jazz them up in about 15 minutes! For the butterfly I embossed it with the black embossing powder and let it cool. Then I took my Copics and colored the back of the butterfly, not the front! Often times you can damage you Copics by coloring in embossed images. However, since vellum is see through you can color from the back and still bring in the same beautiful color for a stained glass look! For the over all covering I just cut some velum on my paper trimmer and punched a punch along the top then wrapped them around the votive and sealed with adhesive on the back. Though if you were going to put them on a table that could be seen at all 360 degrees you could easily jazz it up with some embellishments to hide the seam. I then took a piece of golden May Arts ribbon and wrapped it around the top of the votives. Super easy and fun project!
